One day after Carey Price was married, with P.K. Subban in attendance, the pair are off to Calgary to begin Team Canada’s Orientation Camp.
The two Montreal Canadiens stars are among 47 players invited to take part in the camp. The roster will be trimmed to 3 goaltenders and 22 skaters before February, when the players that are selected will head to Sochi, Russia to represent their country in the Olympic Games.
Canada, will be defending its Gold Medal victory on home ice, in Vancouver during the 2010 Games.
Unfortunately for fans, the players will not be taking to the ice at all this week, due to the high price it would cost Hockey Canada to insure all of the players against injury. Team Canada Executive Director Steve Yzerman says there is plenty of off ice informational sessions that need to be taken care of, and this is an excellent time to do so.
As a Canadiens fan, it is too bad that Price and Subban will not get a chance to show off their skills on the ice, in a best this country has to offer intrasquad game. It is exciting nonetheless to know that two of the best Habs are on the short list to represent the defending Gold Medalist in the upcoming Winter Games.
A congratulations goes out to Mr. and Mrs. Carey Price, even though Carey’s honeymoon will start off in a classroom somewhere in Calgary, listening to Mike Babcock discuss how Canada will run its power play.
