Plekanec was passed over 70 times before being selected by the Canadiens in 2001. He has been the Canadiens most dependable player since becoming an NHL regular after the 2005 lockout. He scored 20 goals in five consecutive seasons and reached a career high of 70 points in 2009-10. His offense has dropped off slightly since then, but he remains a 50-60 point getter who is the team’s best penalty killer. Not bad for a guy taken just after Yared Hagos.
