The rumoured defenseman coach for the Montreal Canadiens has been hired. JJ Daigneault, previously assistant coach of the Connecticut Whale has been hired as an assistant coach. This confirms speculation that the job would be filled by one of Dairneault or former Habs great Larry Robinson.
Daigneault has been in charge of the defense of the New York Ranger’s AHL affiliate since 2006. During his time their the Whale has developed a sterling list of good NHL defensemen to play for the Rangers, including:
Ryan McDonagh
Dan Girardi
Micheal Del Zotto
Micheal Sauer
JJ Daigneault had a strong career as an NHL player, most famously as part of the Montreal Canadiens 1993 cup win.
