Fansided Mock Draft - A Winning Habit Selects Alex Galchenyuk

Hello, gentle reader.  What you’re about to embark on is a journey through the mind.  Today, Fansided.com begins their 2012 NHL Mock Draft.  Each NHL site on Fansided.com will select a pick for their respective team (first is Oil On Whyte for Edmonton, second is Fire That Cannon for Columbus, and so on…)  Let’s kick off the 2012 NHL Mock Draft with a bang, shall we?

The Montreal Canadiens are in an interesting position. Holding onto their highest draft pick since taking Carey Price with the 5th overall pice in 2005, the Canadiens have a real chance to start the rebuild off right. Do they draft for need? Best player available? With Yakupov and Grigorenko already off the board, the Canadiens will select a player at the position at which they are weakest.

With the third overall pick in the 2012 Entry Level Draft, this blogger selects C Alex Galchenyuk. Standing at 6’1 and 185 pounds, the American born centerman is currently playing for the Sarnia Sting put up 83 points 70 games, and made the first all-rookie team in the OHL for 2010-2011. He only played 2 games this year as a result of injury. The NHL’s website has him listed at 4th overall for North American skaters.
