Flyers Finally Find Condom !

Who would have thunk it ?

The Broad Street Bullies are first overall in the entire league and they do not have a goalie. Or do they ?

Children all over the world grew up and learned to fall in love with ‘Bob the Builder ‘. Now – kids from Philadelphia are growing extremely close to ‘ Bob the Goalie ‘. The kid from Russia, ( yes the same country whose Red Army Hockey Team once skated off the ice – refusing to play the Flyers ), is so far adding an element to the Flyer game that has been missing for years. Solid goal-tending.

Somehow , no matter how the team played up front , no matter how well the defence played and no matter how much the Flyers’ intimidated – they have never been able to capture a Stanley Cup and conclude their 3 – peat .

This may be the season that they do it.

The Pittsburgh Penguins had to lose in the finals before winning the Cup. The Flyers lost in the finals last year and all indications thus far demonstrate a very angry hockey team. They lost. They do not like it !

The Montreal Canadiens were also disturbed that they came withing three games of reaching the final and were ousted last season.  Unlike the Flyers , The Habs got into bed with their dreamgirl and did not get any further. The Flyers were all set to the ‘dirty deed ‘ and somehow forgot the condoms. It is 2010 – no one with any brains hits homeruns with pine tar on their bats. The bats need to be clean and this year – ‘Bob the Goalie ‘ just may be the condom that the Flyers require to ‘ score ‘ a championship.

Habs May Be in Trouble

Les Habitants have a condom and after a third of the season , Carey Price has not shown any leaks. Unfortunatley , the Canadiens have started to run out of any aphrodisiacts and more and more must rely on the repuattion of their ‘condom’. Gomez coming back into the line-up (maybe ) is a big deal in Monteal, at least in the papers. The same Gomez who has not reached the first rung of the ladder as he climbs toward the bank teller’s window to collect his paycheck. Les Habs did win with him in the line – up . His defensive play has never been in question yet what the Habs need now is Goals and Scott does not have those qualities.

Max Pacioretty does and he will play his first regular season game this season with the team. Martin has spoke to his former disgruntled employee and the two have reportedly made up. Martin should let Max play his game and not attempt to ‘douse’ the hot hand of Pacioretty as he has done with Subban.

The Habs need calm after losing two i na row. They need Gomez, they need Spacek and they need Subban and Pacioretty to go out and have fun doing what they love to do. Many years have passed since The Habs won a cup and enjoyed themselves on the ice. Players such as Pacioretty and Subban have way too much talent to have it wasted because of a strict regime. That regime is for most players on a succesful team. The ones that have natural ability to bring people out of their seats should be allowed to do so – a team filled with Travis Moen’s is not fun.

Tonight’ game against the Flyers is the biggest for the Habs. It is the biggest for Martin. A Flyer win this evening will do exactly to the Canadiens what Montreal did to Philadelphia in 1976. It will knock their confidence back enough that the Habs will compete and beat the majority of the teams in the league.

It will also leave a subliminal message in the back of their minds. A message that no fan of the Canadiens would have thunk.
